True Happiness
What makes you happy? How do you share and bring happiness to others? Often I work with clients that are seeking more joy and fulfillment in their lives. They soon find out that a career and money rarely bring true happiness. It can open doors to more adventures and opportunities, but the money itself will never bring happiness. Sometimes it’s the simple things in life like fresh flowers from a farmers market, fun music that makes you want to get up and dance, an outdoor concert, a picnic in the park, planning a vacation you can’t take for five years, or relaxing and watching your favorite show that end up bringing true happiness.
One thing I know for sure is people that give back always seem happier. Whether they give time or money they find joy in serving. I think when we are healthy and our cup is full we can give back and fill someone else’s, nothing brings me greater joy. I love going on mission trips to areas of poverty because the people I get to spend time with know that true happiness comes from connections, not things. They might have very little but they love what and who they have. I see more smiling and more joy from them than most of our upper middle class. They look for what to celebrate, not what to complain about.
How about you, are you happy? Are you doing more celebrating or complaining? Take a moment today to find something you are truly happy about and pay it forward by helping fill someone else’s cup with that happiness!
