New Beginnings…
“This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change.” -Taylor Swift
“And now we welcome the New Year, full of things that have never been.” -Rainer Maria Rilke
Today is a new beginning; every day is a new beginning. Many focus on how New Year’s resolutions fail, but I want you to know that even if you don’t have 100% success, that does not mean you fail.
Anytime we want to improve ourselves, our lives, our health, our finances, our relationships, or our career we are seeking to be better. Just the desire to improve is taking one step in the right direction. It takes time, commitment, energy, open mindedness and stumbling to reach our goals. As a coach, I work with clients on goals in many areas of their life. On my own journey to be better, to get better, I find more struggle than success many days, but I am always glad I still have the desire to continue to improve.
Often times the hardest step to take is the first one. The next time someone says they never work out or challenges you as to how long will this last, I encourage you to hold your head up high and say, “At least I have the desire to improve, so far it has lasted 1 day/1week/1month.” Don’t try to change everything at once. Pick one area to improve and work on that until you gain confidence, then add another area to improve.
Is it your faith, your finances, your fitness, your family, your friends, your fun…? Whatever you want to improve pick that area. Then, write down three to six ways you could be more successful in that area. Next, just start with one. For example…health. Join a gym, do a 24 Day Challenge, drink more water, sleep better, use AdvoCare supplements, get an accountability partner, deal with stress, walk the dogs daily, commit, quit drinking, stop eating at 7pm daily, the list could go on. Then just pick one like, move my body 30 minutes each day. Before you know it you will want to drink more water, then eat healthier, and just go from there.
Make this year a year of good change! Take things one step at a time and know that you can do it!
