Do you believe in miracles?
Are you one?
I sure do, and the best ones are when God invites you to join Him in the work He plans to do. 200 million Americans want to write a book. 3% of people actually finish their book. So is it a miracle to write a book? Maybe.
As a young person, many messages make me think I’m just cute, not smart, strong or capable. What if in first grade someone asks if you’re dyslexic? What if at 21 someone asks if you’re illiterate? What if more people check your Facebook posts for spelling mistakes than for content? To me, then YES just writing a book is a miracle. But that’s not the miracle that I’m talking about. The miracle in this journey is what God is doing with this book. It’s unbelievable and humbling to me, beyond my imagination. It’s the daily responses I get each morning when I wake up: emails, voices mails, texts, Facebook messages, written cards and notes of orders for 10, 20, or even 30 books from book clubs, Bible studies and small groups who want to use my book.
Trust me, this isn’t about me and it’s not for me. It’s about relationship transformations, belief changes, life transformations and story rewriting. People are finding hope and a desire to change. It’s so powerful to hear all the words I have in the last month. THAT my friends is the MIRACLE! Sometimes we’re just asked to do the work with no idea of the IMPACT it will have on life, organizations, families or relationships, let alone individuals.
Know that it wasn’t easy; it took me many years and many changes before I released this book. Even 2 weeks before it was to be released I panicked. I told my husband “I can’t do this. It feels too vulnerable, too scary, what if people judge me, what if no one likes it?” I feel like I’m standing on a train track naked with a train running towards me but that’s when the reward comes; when we take the risks even when we’re scared for the sake of others to make ourselves vulnerable. Are you willing to be authentic to help another on their journey? It’s worth the risk. What miracle are you in partnership on? Who needs your prayers, hope or inspiration?
