To Be Independent
What does Independence Day mean to you? Do you even celebrate the 4th of July or is it just another day off filled with beer, boating and books? Have you ever gone to war to fight for this country’s independence? If you’ve never left the United States, you might not realize how blessed you are to live in a free country.
I visited China a number of years ago and people told us they were free there, but there was nothing free about them. They still avoided writing or speaking about anything political for fear of what would happen. They didn’t use the same Facebook as us because their government wouldn’t allow it. There were many controlled and sad stories about how many kids didn’t have value.
So this July 4th, I ask you to please take a few moments and be grateful for your freedom. Thank a solider for serving which allows you to live in the comfort of freedom every day. Let the fireworks fly and celebrate all that you have, and the ability to think, feel, speak and work where you choose, for whom you choose. Today’s Chooseletter is all about the choices we’re free to make that many others only dream of having some day.
Can you be strong, independent and still be kind & gentle? Can you be independent and still be dependent?
What does living your best lifelook like to you?
