Awesome & Amazing, What words do you use to describe your work?
Do you love your Career?
Are you enjoying your ride and the people you are sharing the journey with?
Have you ever spent a day with motivational speakers? In the group Toast Masters I believe they count the “ahs” and “ums” as you go through a speech. When I’m in a group of speakers, however, I like to count the “awesomes” and “amazings” that they use. These words have always seemed like normal, regular parts of conversation to me. When I hang out with people who aren’t speakers, I have a hard time figuring out why they aren’t more excited about life. Usually, the words “awesome” and “amazing” aren’t part of their regular vocabulary.
It suddenly dawned on me one day that we speakers might actually be the silly ones. We look for the good, the positive, the awesome, and the amazing in all situations. As speakers we find those superlatives in the people we meet and the stories they share. Some people say that speakers are a special breed or a bit of a freak-show, providing unique stories that come from all corners of the earth. If that’s the case, I’m happy to be that special breed and a part of that freak-show. I want to share my stories with the rest of the world, and experience the awesome and amazing people who come to listen to me speak.
