Can, Can’t, Will, Won’t
Whether you think you Can or you Can’t you are right either way!
Are you a person who starts with “Can” or “Can’t,” “Will” or “Won’t”? I find it fascinating to listen to people talk as some are automatically programmed to look for what won’t work. Before they have all the details, they tell me or someone else how something could never work, how it’s too hard, or how it’s nearly impossible.
I started listening more intently to people’s conversations, and sadly I believe most people let a “can’t” or “won’t” mentality rule their lives. It makes me sad; I thought most people were like me. I thought they were positive, always looking for the good, the hopeful, and the possible. Unfortunately, as I’ve been listening, I’ve become more discouraged.
Have you ever listened to young kids talk? Until somewhere around third grade they’re fully convinced they can be and do anything and everything. Think about it; they tell you, “I’m going to be a firefighter, President, a teacher, a daddy, and a doctor.” Then, when they get a little older, something has changed making them think they have to pick just one goal or purpose in life. I wish I knew why that transition in thinking occurs.
Maybe I’ve never grown up myself, but I still think it’s possible to be or do anything. I often tell people I’m six feet tall or Wonder Woman. I know many think I’m unrealistic and being silly but I believe that what we think we are, we often become. The physically growing taller hasn’t yet occurred, though I’m still hopeful. But being Wonder Woman by getting more done in one day than I think I can happens often. Today I urge you to find your inner child and recapture your “Can” and “Will” attitude!
Who kills our dreams, our spirits, and our bigger vision? Do we do it to ourselves?
Are you an, “I think I can” or “It’ll work out” person? Or is your first thought, “It can’t happen, it never could, it won’t work?”
Listen to your friends’ words…do they start with “can” or “can’t?” “Will” or “won’t?”
A perfect Gift for someone you care about
