Most Joy
What brings you the most Joy? Is it your career, your family, your health, or something else? Often times I’ll ask audiences, “Where do you find the most joy in your life?” For many, the answer comes easily, while a small number of others struggle to find the answer. I believe the number one answer that I hear is, “Grandkids.” Those who have grandkids love the innocence of watching them grow up and enjoy how easily they find and express joy and laughter through the simple things in life.
I love when other people are surprised and happy about something or someone in their life. When some answer me with “Money,” it leaves me feeling sad, because I know in the depth of my soul money cannot offer true joy. It might feel good to have a little extra in your pocket, but the feeling will fade. It’s encouraging to hear others answer me with “Faith,” knowing that, even with all their broken or messy pieces, God still sees and loves the good in them.
Joy is deeper than happiness; it’s beyond circumstances, it’s how you show up, it’s more than a feeling, it’s the peace and smile that find you, even on a difficult day. Joy is the part of you that keeps going when everything else wants to quit. This week, I encourage you to make a list of five things that bring you joy then choose one of them to peruse to add a bright moment to your busy life.
