Coffee, Chat, and Cards
Just drop in, no planning
Do you remember the days where we all slowed down a bit? Am I getting old?
A few years ago, I stopped by a friend’s unannounced, and my friend’s husband thanked me repeatedly. At first I thought it was a bit strange but then he went on to tell me how he missed the way his grandparents lived. At their house, the door was always open, the coffee was always on, they always had time for a face to face chat and maybe even a round of cards.
I’m not sure I had those days growing up. I really miss the days where people would drop over, or where you could connect with others through a friendly knock on the door. No computer, phone, email, text, or video chat, a time when we didn’t have to schedule a meeting three months in advance. Who do you hang out with? Is your door open? Is the coffee on? Do you have time for a chat? Let’s go back to the simpler times, to more intentional and focused conversations. Are you ready to deepen or enhance your relationships in 2018?
Let’s meet for a chat. No agenda, no selling, just connecting and sharing stories. And while we’re slowing down, let’s take a couple of minutes to listen to the song below. It’s a reminder to recapture those quiet, slower moments in life that we too often take for granted until they’ve passed us by.
Who could you invite over for cards?
Can you welcome someone to your home for coffee this week instead of meeting at the local coffee shop?
Have you taken the time to slow down and appreciate the world around you?
